Build your vocabulary
Add and edit words
Add vocabulary with text, comments, labels, audio, and images.
Select exactly one lesson in the sidebar, then choose Add Word in the toolbar or Vocabulary > Add Word on Mac.
Enter text for the source language, target language, and optional comment. The editor supports formatted text. You can also:
- record audio for either language;
- add or generate an image;
- assign one of the document's labels; and
- flag the word for quick access later.
Choose Add to store the word and keep the editor ready for the next entry. With a hardware keyboard, use Tab or Shift-Tab to change fields and ⌘Return to add the word.
Edit existing words
Select a word to open its details. Edit the source, target, or comment directly. The detail view also shows its image, audio controls, label, flag, difficulty, last answer, and next review date.
To change several entries, enter selection mode on iPhone or iPad, or select multiple rows on Mac. Batch actions include cut, copy, delete, export, flagging, labeling, images, and audio where supported.
Text separators
Under General, you can define a synonym separator, train synonyms separately, and define a comment separator. On iPhone and iPad, Select Keyboard automatically can switch the keyboard to match the active language field.
