Use Tablify from other apps
Convert text without opening Tablify, using the Services menu or the Shortcuts app.
Services menu
Tablify adds three services to macOS. Select text in any app, then choose the app’s menu › Services, or right-click the selection and choose Services.
- Copy as Table converts the selected text and puts the table on the clipboard.
- Paste Clipboard as Table converts the text on the clipboard and inserts the table where the cursor is.
- Replace Selection with Table converts the selected text and replaces it with the table in place.
Tablify detects the separator automatically. The services don’t treat the first line as a header.
If the services don’t appear, open System Settings › Keyboard › Keyboard Shortcuts › Services and turn them on under Text.
Shortcuts
In the Shortcuts app, add the Convert Text to Table action from Tablify. It turns text into tab-separated table text that you can pass on to other actions. You can set two options:
- First Row Is Header treats the first line as column names.
- Include Empty Rows keeps blank lines as empty rows.
You can also ask Siri to “Convert text to table with Tablify”.
